Victims of Crime Abroad
If you are a victim of crime while abroad, British embassies may be able to help you. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office website gives information about where these embassies are located and about the kind of help they can provide.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office website also gives more detailed information about the following crimes:
- lost or stolen passports
- rape and sexual assault
- coping with deaths abroad, including deaths in suspicious circumstances
- forced marriages
- missing persons
- parental child abduction
- female genital mutilation
- terrorist incidents
When you return home, you may wish consider contacting Victim Support Scotland to get practical support and help. If you require help from an oversees victim support organisation, Victim Support Scotland may be able to advise you of organisations they have contacts with.
