Victim Information Service – for victims of youth crime
If you have been affected by a crime committed by a child or young person who has been referred to the Children’s Reporter, the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA) Victim Information Service may be able to help you.
The Victim Information Service aims to:
- Provide victims of youth crime with access to routine information about the Children's Hearings System,
- Provide specific information to victims (and others specified, such as insurance companies) about what has happened to the child or young person responsible for the offence once they have been referred to the Children's Reporter,
- Protect the right of the child or young person to confidentiality.
The victim will be identified from the police report when the child or young person is referred to the Reporter. The Reporter will then write to victims at key stages of their investigation of the case and then their decision making.
If you do not want to receive this information, you may opt out of this service at any time.
